These questions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are the women who are being arrested and\/or court-ordered to nonviolence programs battering their partners, using resistive violence, or using legal self-defense?<\/li>\n<li>Do our local criminal legal system agencies have a differentiated response or are all cases of domestic violence treated the same?<\/li>\n<li>What are most effective interventions that address the violence women experience and the violence they use?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This 3-day training provides an overview of<em> The Duluth Model\u2019s <\/em>approach to addressing women\u2019s use of violence, including programming that addresses women\u2019s use of violence within a Coordinated Community Response (CCR).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Day 1 will focus on how to leverage your CCR to reduce the arrest rates of domestic violence survivors and minimize the consequences of arrest that can embolden the abuser.<\/li>\n<li>Days 2 &amp; 3 will explore the underlying assumptions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theduluthmodel.org\/dvtp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Turning Points<\/em><em>:\u00a0<\/em><em>A Nonviolence Curriculum for Women<\/em><\/a> and how the curriculum helps women understand the connections between the violence they experience and the violence they use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Who will benefit from this training?<\/h3>\n<p>Anyone who works with women who use violence against their intimate partners will benefit from this training, particularly nonviolence group facilitators,\u00a0probation officers, therapists, and community-based advocates.<\/p>\n<h3>Meet the Trainers<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Days 1-3: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.domesticviolenceexpert.net\/about-melissa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Melissa Petrangelo Scaia, M.P.A.<\/a>, trainer and co-author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theduluthmodel.org\/dvtp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Turning Points<\/em><em>: A Nonviolence Curriculum for Women<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li>CCR Day: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theduluthmodel.org\/about-us\/meet-our-trainers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scott Miller<\/a>, trainer, Duluth Model CCR Coordinator, and co-author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theduluthmodel.org\/product\/creating-process-change-men-batter-curriculum-package\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Registration<\/h3>\n<p>Space is limited to 50 participants to allow for the best learning environment through our virtual training lab.
