Impact of Domestic Violence on Adult Brain Development and Parenting – 3 CEU’s

Impact of Domestic Violence on Adult Brain Development and Parenting Participants will learn about the biological and emotional effects of violence on caregivers and children, prioritizing those most likely to be seen in the context of domestic violence shelters. Training will also describe how experiences of violence impair the development of nurturing parenting practices and high-quality attachment relationships. Finally, we will teach strategies that facilitate repair of these relationship challenges and return to the high-quality caregiving practices known to prevent future abuse. This training will also include supplemental interactive components to delve deeper into knowledge and practice (e.g., video examples, roleplays). Sufna John, PhD & Allison Smith, PhD
