Recognize, Resource, Uplift: Addressing Racial Disparities Across the Domestic Violence Housing Continuum
Description
Black domestic violence survivors with marginalized gender identities encounter multiple intersecting barriers related to race, gender, class, and sexuality when seeking housing support. In this webinar, the presenters will identify the structural disparities that shape disparate housing outcomes and debunk myths about why these disparities persist. Presenters will discuss community-centered approaches already in practice to increase safety, healing, and stability. The webinar aims to uplift strategies that begin with what communities already have, and consider what equitable access to funding, policy, and resources could look like across the domestic violence housing continuum.
Webinar Objectives: By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize how structural disparities shape Black survivors with marginalized gender identities across the domestic violence housing continuum
2. Identify and debunk common myths about Black survivors’ experiences of housing instability
3. Uplift current community-centered housing responses
